Description

Delicious and comforting French Onion Meatballs infused with caramelized onions and topped with gooey melted mozzarella.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil over medium heat in a skillet and add sliced onions. Cook until caramelized (about 15-20 minutes).
  2. Mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  3. Form into meatballs and place on a baking sheet.
  4. Bake meatballs at 400°F (200°C) for 20 minutes.
  5. Add beef broth to the same skillet used for onions and bring to a simmer.
  6. Place cooked meatballs in the broth and simmer for 10 minutes.
  7. Top with mozzarella cheese and cover until melted.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.

Notes

Allow the onions to caramelize slowly for the best flavor. Consider experimenting with different types of cheese.
