Ingredients

  • 1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup pecan halves
  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • Extra chopped pecans
  • Sea salt flakes
  • Drizzled caramel sauce


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare a 9×13 inch baking pan by lining it with parchment paper.
  3. Create the crust by combining flour and brown sugar in a medium mixing bowl.
  4. Use a pastry blender to cut in the cold, cubed butter until coarse crumbs form.
  5. Press this mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  6. Sprinkle the pecan halves over the crust.
  7. In a small saucepan, combine butter and brown sugar for the caramel layer.
  8. Cook over medium heat, stirring until bubbling.
  9. Continue cooking for one minute after boiling.
  10. Pour the hot caramel mixture over the pecans and crust.
  11. Bake for 18-20 minutes until bubbly and golden-brown.
  12. Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over bars.
  13. Let the chips soften, then spread the melted chocolate into an even layer.

Notes

Chill the butter before cutting for a flakier crust. Use high-quality chocolate chips for the best flavor.
