Description

A classic Southern dish made with rice, ground meat, and a blend of spices, perfect for a hearty meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 1 pound ground beef or pork
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 cup celery, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil


Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion, bell pepper, celery, and garlic. Sauté until the vegetables are tender.
  3. Add the ground meat to the skillet and cook until browned.
  4. Stir in the Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  5. Add the rice and chicken broth to the skillet. Bring to a boil.
  6. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed.
  7. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños or hot sauce.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
