Description

Indulge in rich, nutty Dark Chocolate and Sea Salt Nut Bars that provide a delightful balance between sweet and salty and are perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups mixed nuts (e.g., almonds, walnuts, cashews, pecans)
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened dark chocolate chips (or chopped dark chocolate)
  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter or almond butter
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt (plus extra for sprinkling)
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds or flaxseeds (optional, for added nutrition)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the baking dish: Line a small baking pan (8×8 or 9×9) with parchment paper or lightly grease it for easy removal.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Spread the mixed nuts on a baking sheet and toast them for about 5-7 minutes, or until fragrant.
  4. Let them cool slightly before chopping them into smaller pieces (if desired).
  5. Melt the dark chocolate chips, honey (or maple syrup), and peanut butter in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth.
  6. Remove the saucepan from heat and add the vanilla extract and sea salt.
  7. Combine the chopped nuts and optional chia or flaxseeds in a large bowl.
  8. Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the nuts and stir until everything is well-coated.
  9. Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking pan, pressing it down firmly to ensure the bars hold together.
  10. Sprinkle a little extra sea salt on top.
  11. Place the pan in the fridge for about 1-2 hours, or until the bars are firm and set.
  12. Remove the bars from the pan and cut them into squares or rectangles.
  13. Store the bars in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.

Notes

For a lower sugar option, consider using sugar substitutes like stevia or monk fruit. Always toast your nuts for enhanced flavor.
