Ingredients

  • 10 oz French baguette (12 1/2-inch slices)
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 3 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon (for topping)
  • 2 cups pecan halves (somewhat crushed)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13 casserole dish.
  2. Slice bread and lay it over the bottom of the casserole dish, overlapping slightly.
  3. Whisk eggs, milk, 3 Tbsp brown sugar, and 1/2 tsp cinnamon in a mixing bowl until smooth.
  4. Pour egg mixture slowly over the bread, ensuring there are no dry spots. Press down on bread slices and set aside.
  5. Melt butter in a small sauce pot over medium heat.
  6. Whisk in brown sugar and corn syrup.
  7. Stir in pecans and cinnamon once heated through and sugar is melting. Cook for a few minutes and remove from heat.
  8. Scoop small spoonfuls of pecan pie mixture over the bread, covering it evenly.
  9. Bake casserole for 40-43 minutes.
  10. Serve warm.
