Description

A healthier baked version of the classic General Tso’s Chicken, featuring crispy chicken coated in a flavorful sweet and spicy sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Chicken breasts
  • 1 cup Flour
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 cup Bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup Soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 inch Ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp Sesame oil
  • 1 tsp Red pepper flakes
  • 2 cups Brown rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces.
  3. Set up a breading station: flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in another, and bread crumbs in a third.
  4. Dip each piece of chicken in flour, then eggs, and finally coat with bread crumbs.
  5. Place the chicken pieces on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. While chicken is baking, prepare the sauce by mixing soy sauce, sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes in a saucepan over medium heat.
  7. Cook the sauce until it thickens slightly.
  8. Once chicken is done, toss it in the sauce.
  9. Serve over a bowl of brown rice.

Notes

For an extra crispy finish, use panko bread crumbs. Marinate the chicken in the sauce mixture for deeper flavor.
