Description

A heartwarming and convenient chili recipe that combines robust flavors with minimal cleanup, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups water or beef broth

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef or turkey over medium heat in a large pot. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onion and minced garlic; cook until the onion is translucent.
  3. Stir in kidney beans, black beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  4. Pour in water or broth and bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat and let simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Serve hot, optionally garnished with cheese, sour cream, or green onions.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, use all beans and vegetable broth instead of meat and beef broth. Adjust seasonings to taste.
