Description

Margarita Bars offer a zesty embrace of lime and sweetness, capturing the essence of summer in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon lime zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • Optional: additional powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
  2. Mix the flour, powdered sugar, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. Beat the butter until creamy, then add the flour mixture and combine until crumbly.
  4. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form a crust.
  5. Whisk together the eggs, granulated sugar, lime juice, lime zest, baking powder, and baking soda in a separate bowl.
  6. Pour the filling over the crust and spread evenly.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until set and lightly golden.
  8. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares. Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, use a gluten-free flour blend. Fresh lime juice is recommended for the best flavor.
