Ingredients

- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 large egg yolks
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 box vanilla wafers
- 3 ripe bananas
Instructions
- Combine milk, sugar, flour, and salt in a saucepan.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened.
- Whisk egg yolks in a separate bowl.
- Gradually add some of the hot mixture to the yolks.
- Return to the saucepan.
- Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Remove from heat, stir in butter and vanilla.
- Layer vanilla wafers, sliced bananas, and the pudding mixture in a serving dish.
- Repeat layers and end with pudding.
- Chill in refrigerator for at least 120 minutes before serving.
Notes
Sift the flour before use for a smoother pudding. Use fresh bananas for the best flavor, and chill for at least 2 hours for optimal texture.
