Description

A comforting casserole with layers of tender potatoes, savory ham, and a rich, creamy cheese sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups diced ham
  • 4 cups thinly sliced potatoes
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon thyme (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a baking dish.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  4. Layer half of the diced ham and half of the chopped onion on top.
  5. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese over the layers.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients: potatoes, ham, onion, cheese, and seasonings.
  7. Pour the heavy cream over the entire dish, making sure it seeps through the layers.
  8. Dot the top with butter.
  9. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for about 45 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and the potatoes are tender.
  11. Let it cool slightly before serving.
