Description

Deliciously sweet gingerbread cinnamon rolls with warm spices, perfect for holiday gatherings or cozy mornings.


Ingredients

  • 5 cups bread flour or all-purpose flour
  • 2 packets Fleischmann’s RapidRise instant yeast
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 6 tbsp butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 stick butter, softened
  • 2 tbsp molasses
  • 4 tbsp butter, softened
  • 6 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 tbsp molasses
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar


Instructions

  1. Mix warm milk with brown sugar in a bowl.
  2. Sprinkle the Fleischmann’s RapidRise instant yeast over the mixture and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  3. Combine bread flour, salt, and ground ginger in a large mixing bowl.
  4. Add the yeast mixture, eggs, softened butter, and molasses to the flour mixture.
  5. Mix until the dough begins to come together.
  6. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  7. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm area until doubled in size, about 60 minutes.
  8. Mix the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and ground ginger in a bowl for the filling.
  9. Spread the softened stick of butter over the rolled-out dough.
  10. Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture evenly on top of the buttered dough.
  11. Roll the dough tightly into a log.
  12. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish.
  13. Cover and let rise until puffy, about 30 minutes.
  14. Beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.
  15. Add molasses, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar to the bowl.
  16. Mix until creamy and smooth.
  17. Spread the frosting over warm rolls after baking.

Notes

Experiment with additional spices like nutmeg or allspice for a personalized touch. Can be stored in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
