Description

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup baking soda
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Coarse sea salt, for sprinkling
  • Mustard or cheese dip, for serving


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture and knead until a smooth dough forms.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  4. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  5. In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water and baking soda to a boil.
  6. Divide the dough into small pieces and shape them into footballs.
  7. Boil each pretzel bite in the baking soda water for about 30 seconds, then remove and place on the baking sheet.
  8. Brush each pretzel bite with the beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Serve warm with mustard or cheese dip.
