Description

A simple yet flavorful blend of fresh basil and salt that elevates any dish to gourmet status.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves, packed
  • 1 cup kosher salt or sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C).
  2. Wash the fresh basil leaves thoroughly to remove any dirt or impurities.
  3. Dry the basil leaves completely using a salad spinner or by gently patting them with a clean towel.
  4. Spread the basil leaves out on a baking sheet in an even layer.
  5. Bake the basil leaves in the preheated oven for about 60 minutes until they are crispy and completely dried.
  6. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the basil cool to room temperature.
  7. Combine the dried basil leaves and kosher salt (and optional garlic powder and black pepper) in a food processor.
  8. Pulse the mixture until the basil is finely chopped and fully incorporated with the salt.
  9. Transfer the basil salt to an airtight container and store it in a cool, dry place.

Notes

Store the basil salt in a dark container to preserve the vibrant green color and fresh flavor.
