A comforting and delicious homemade banana pudding pie with layers of custard, ripe bananas, and crunchy Nilla wafers.
Ingredients

- 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 large egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 ripe bananas
- 1 pre-baked pie crust
- Nilla wafers (for topping)
Instructions
- Whisk together the milk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and starts to bubble.
- Whisk the egg yolks in a separate bowl. Gradually add some of the hot mixture to the egg yolks to temper them, then return to the saucepan, stirring constantly.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and remove from heat.
- Slice the bananas and layer them in the pre-baked pie crust.
- Pour the pudding mixture over the bananas and smooth out the top.
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until set.
- Top with whipped cream and Nilla wafers before serving. Enjoy!
Notes
Try using ripe bananas for the best flavor. Customize with sugar substitutes if needed.
