- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup cooked apple pie filling
- 1/2 cup toasted pecans, chopped
- 4 oz cream cheese
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let it sit until foamy.
- Mix flour and salt in a large mixing bowl. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Knead until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, about 60 minutes.
- Roll out the dough and spread the cinnamon brown sugar filling, followed by the apple pie filling and toasted pecans.
- Roll it up tightly and slice into rolls.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla together until smooth for the cream cheese frosting.
- Drizzle over warm cinnamon rolls before serving.
Notes
Best enjoyed warm with frosting. Can be frozen for later use.
