Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Red food coloring (optional)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a mini heart-shaped cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  7. If desired, add a few drops of red food coloring to achieve a pink hue.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared mini heart cake pan, filling each mold about 2/3 full.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow the cakes to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
