Description

A lighter twist on the classic tuna melt, using juicy tomatoes and creamy tuna salad without bread.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can tuna, drained
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your preference)
  • 2 large tomatoes, sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil or butter for grilling


Instructions

  1. Mix in a bowl, the drained tuna, mayonnaise, celery, onion, salt, and pepper.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little olive oil or butter.
  3. Add tomato slices in the skillet and top each slice with the tuna mixture.
  4. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top of the tuna.
  5. Cook until the cheese melts and the tomatoes are tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Serve warm, either on the tomatoes or using them as a base for other toppings.
