Ingredients

- 4 slices of bread
- 200g cheddar cheese, grated
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1 teaspoon mustard powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg yolk
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the grill to medium heat.
- Toast the bread slices until golden brown.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the flour and mustard powder, stirring for 1-2 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth and thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in the grated cheese until melted.
- Mix in the egg yolk and season with salt and pepper.
- Spread the cheese mixture over the toasted bread.
- Place under the grill until bubbling and golden brown.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
- For a spicier version, add a dash of hot sauce to the cheese mixture.
- Serve with a side of pickles or salad for a complete meal.
