- 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 2–3 green chilies, slit
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 2 tsp cumin seeds
- 2 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 2–3 tbsp oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Stir in garlic and ginger, cooking for another minute.
- Add the pureed tomatoes and cook until the oil separates.
- Mix in the green chilies, yogurt, and all the spices (coriander, turmeric, red chili powder, and salt).
- Add the chicken pieces and stir well to coat.
- Cover and cook on low heat for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Once the chicken is cooked through, sprinkle garam masala and mix well.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
Notes
- Adjust the spice levels according to your preference.
- Serve with rice or naan for a complete meal.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
