Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for coating

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg, red food coloring, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix well.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until combined.
  6. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  7. Once chilled, scoop the dough and roll into balls, then coat in powdered sugar.
  8. Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set.
  10. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
