Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, sliced
- 4 slices of rye bread
- 4 slices of Swiss cheese
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Butter for grilling
Instructions
- In a skillet, cook the sliced onions until caramelized.
- In a separate pan, cook the ground beef until browned, seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Spread butter on one side of each slice of rye bread.
- On the unbuttered side of two slices, layer the cooked beef, caramelized onions, Swiss cheese, and pizza sauce.
- Top with the other two slices of bread, buttered side up.
- Grill the sandwiches in a skillet until golden brown on both sides and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from heat, slice, and serve topped with shredded mozzarella and additional pizza sauce if desired.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add jalapeños to the filling.
- Can substitute ground turkey for a leaner option.
