Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 slices of rye bread
  • 4 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Butter for grilling

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, cook the sliced onions until caramelized.
  2. In a separate pan, cook the ground beef until browned, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  3. Spread butter on one side of each slice of rye bread.
  4. On the unbuttered side of two slices, layer the cooked beef, caramelized onions, Swiss cheese, and pizza sauce.
  5. Top with the other two slices of bread, buttered side up.
  6. Grill the sandwiches in a skillet until golden brown on both sides and the cheese is melted.
  7. Remove from heat, slice, and serve topped with shredded mozzarella and additional pizza sauce if desired.
