Description
A wholesome twist on traditional burgers, these Oven-Baked Cabbage Burgers use thick slices of cabbage as buns, filled with seasoned meat or plant-based alternatives.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 small head Cabbage (cut into thick slices)
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil (for brushing)
- 1 pound Ground Beef or Turkey (or ground chicken or plant-based options)
- 1 medium Onion (finely chopped)
- 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
- 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 large Egg (optional, for binding)
- 1 cup Cheese (for sprinkling on top)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
- Slice the cabbage into thick rounds, creating sturdy “buns.” Brush each slice with olive oil and sprinkle with a bit of salt.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, sauté the chopped onion until translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, sautéed onion, garlic, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, and egg (if using). Mix until well combined.
- Take a portion of the meat mixture and mold it into patties, placing one on each cabbage slice.
- Sprinkle cheese generously on top of each patty.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the meat is cooked through and the cheese is bubbly.
- Allow to cool slightly before carefully removing the cabbage burgers from the baking sheet.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
