Description

Deliciously crispy mini blooming onions made healthier in the air fryer, perfect for any gathering.


Ingredients

Scale
  • Small onions
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Oil for spraying


Instructions

  1. Cut the tops off the onions and make a few cuts down the sides to create ‘petals’. Soak in cold water for 30 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.
  4. Dip the onions in the egg mixture, then coat with the flour mixture.
  5. Place in the air fryer basket and spray lightly with oil.
  6. Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes or until golden and crispy, flipping halfway through.
  7. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Soak onions longer for more petals, adjust spices to preference, and avoid overcrowding the air fryer.
