Description

Explore the vibrant flavors and traditional methods of making authentic Mexican chorizo.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground pork with all the spices and vinegar.
  2. Mix thoroughly until the spices are evenly distributed throughout the meat.
  3. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. When ready to cook, heat a skillet over medium heat.
  5. Add the chorizo mixture to the skillet and cook until browned and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes.
  6. Serve hot in tacos, burritos, or as a topping for your favorite dishes.

Notes

  • For a spicier chorizo, increase the amount of cayenne pepper.
  • This recipe can be made with ground beef or turkey as alternatives to pork.
  • Chorizo can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week or frozen for longer storage.
