Italian Herbs & Cheese Bread

Description

Homemade Subway-style Italian Herbs & Cheese Bread, soft inside and golden cheesy on top. Perfect for sandwiches or dipping.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Herbs: oregano, basil, parsley
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella & provolone

Instructions

  1. Activate yeast in warm water with sugar
  2. Add oil, salt, and flour to form dough
  3. Knead for 10 minutes and let rise 1 hour
  4. Shape loaf and place on baking sheet
  5. Brush with butter and sprinkle herbs/cheese
  6. Bake at 375°F for 25 minutes
  7. Cool slightly before slicing

Notes

For extra flavor, mix parmesan into the topping cheese. Add sun-dried tomatoes or olives for variation.
