Homemade Subway-style Italian Herbs & Cheese Bread, soft inside and golden cheesy on top. Perfect for sandwiches or dipping.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2¼ tsp active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 2½–3 cups flour
- 1½ tsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Herbs: oregano, basil, parsley
- 1½ cups shredded mozzarella & provolone
Instructions
- Activate yeast in warm water with sugar
- Add oil, salt, and flour to form dough
- Knead for 10 minutes and let rise 1 hour
- Shape loaf and place on baking sheet
- Brush with butter and sprinkle herbs/cheese
- Bake at 375°F for 25 minutes
- Cool slightly before slicing
Notes
For extra flavor, mix parmesan into the topping cheese. Add sun-dried tomatoes or olives for variation.
