- 1/5 cup Fresh Basil Leaves
- 2 teaspoons Roasted Red Chili Flakes
- 1 teaspoon Dried Rosemary (optional)
- 1 teaspoon Sugar (optional)
Instructions
- Open the two cans of whole peeled tomatoes and pour them into a large mixing bowl.
- Crush the tomatoes by hand or with a fork until you reach your desired consistency.
- Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Add the crushed tomatoes to the saucepan.
- Sprinkle in the sea salt and stir well to combine.
- Tear the fresh basil leaves by hand and add them to the sauce.
- Mix in the roasted red chili flakes, adjusting for your preferred spice level.
- Incorporate the dried rosemary if using.
- Stir in the sugar, but skip this step if your tomatoes are already sweet.
- Simmer the sauce over low heat for about 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully.
