Description

A delicious and simple recipe for making your own pizza sauce from scratch, filled with rich flavors and fresh ingredients.


Ingredients

  • 2 cans Whole Peeled Tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Sea Salt
  • 1/5 cup Fresh Basil Leaves
  • 2 teaspoons Roasted Red Chili Flakes
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Rosemary (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar (optional)


Instructions

  1. Open the two cans of whole peeled tomatoes and pour them into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Crush the tomatoes by hand or with a fork until you reach your desired consistency.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
  4. Add the crushed tomatoes to the saucepan.
  5. Sprinkle in the sea salt and stir well to combine.
  6. Tear the fresh basil leaves by hand and add them to the sauce.
  7. Mix in the roasted red chili flakes, adjusting for your preferred spice level.
  8. Incorporate the dried rosemary if using.
  9. Stir in the sugar, but skip this step if your tomatoes are already sweet.
  10. Simmer the sauce over low heat for about 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully.

Notes

Use high-quality tomatoes for the best flavor. This sauce can be made ahead of time for enhanced taste.
