Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)


Instructions

  1. Mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon in a large bowl.
  2. Whisk together the milk, eggs, and melted butter in another bowl.
  3. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients until just blended.
  4. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thick, then cut into bars.
  6. Fry the bars in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. Whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk until smooth for the glaze.
  8. Drizzle the glaze over the warm bars and serve.

Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze before glazing for up to 3 months.
