Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package Hawaiian rolls
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- Butter for cooking
- Maple syrup and toppings of choice (e.g., fruit, whipped cream)
Instructions
- Preheat a griddle or skillet over medium heat and add a little butter to coat the surface.
- Whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon in a large bowl until well combined.
- Slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally and dip each half into the egg mixture, allowing them to soak for a few seconds.
- Place the soaked rolls onto the hot griddle and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Remove from the heat and serve warm with maple syrup and your favorite toppings.
Notes
Use stale rolls for better absorption of the custard and consider adding citrus zest for a bright flavor.
