Description

A delightful and elegant side dish featuring fresh green beans sautéed with almonds and butter.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh green beans
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Trim the ends of the green beans and blanch them in boiling water for 3-4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.
  2. Drain the green beans and immediately transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking process.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat.
  4. Add the sliced almonds and sauté until they are golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Drain the green beans from the ice bath and add them to the skillet.
  6. Toss the green beans with the almonds, and season with salt, pepper, and lemon juice.
  7. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  8. Serve warm as a side dish.

Notes

  • For a nut-free version, you can omit the almonds.
  • Feel free to add garlic for extra flavor.
  • This dish pairs well with grilled meats and fish.
