- 1 pound fresh green beans
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Trim the ends of the green beans and blanch them in boiling water for 3-4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.
- Drain the green beans and immediately transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking process.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat.
- Add the sliced almonds and sauté until they are golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
- Drain the green beans from the ice bath and add them to the skillet.
- Toss the green beans with the almonds, and season with salt, pepper, and lemon juice.
- Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
- Serve warm as a side dish.
Notes
- For a nut-free version, you can omit the almonds.
- Feel free to add garlic for extra flavor.
