Description

A delightful Italian flatbread featuring roasted garlic and rich Parmesan for an irresistible flavor and airy texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups All-Purpose Flour (can mix with whole wheat flour for added nutrition)
  • 1 tbsp Kosher Salt
  • 2 tsps Instant Yeast
  • 1/4 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 1/2 cups Warm Water (around 110°F)
  • 4 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 cup Parmesan Cheese (or Pecorino Romano)
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Herbs (optional; Rosemary or Thyme)
  • 1 tbsp Flaky Sea Salt
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley or Herbs (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water and yeast in a mixing bowl; let it bloom for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Whisk together flour and salt in a large bowl, then create a well in the center.
  3. Add olive oil and frothy yeast mixture into the well; mix until a dough begins to form.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Punch down the dough and transfer to a greased baking sheet, stretching it to fit.
  7. Make dimples all over the surface of the dough with your fingers; top with minced garlic, Parmesan cheese, and fresh herbs.
  8. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle flaky sea salt over the surface for added flavor.
  9. Let the dough rise again for about 20 minutes.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown; remove from oven.
  11. Allow to cool slightly, sprinkle with fresh parsley or herbs, slice, and serve!

Notes

For people with diabetes, use suitable sugar-free alternatives like stevia or monk fruit.
