Description

A delicious and creamy pasta dish inspired by the classic French onion soup, perfect for a comforting meal.


Ingredients

  • 8 ounces of pasta
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon of thyme
  • 1 cup of beef broth
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 cup of grated Gruyère cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter and olive oil over medium heat.
  3. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring frequently, until caramelized, about 20-25 minutes.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and thyme, cooking for an additional minute.
  5. Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer, allowing it to reduce slightly.
  6. Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream, mixing well.
  7. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to combine.
  8. Stir in the grated Gruyère cheese until melted and creamy.
  9. Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, substitute beef broth with vegetable broth.
  • Feel free to add cooked chicken or mushrooms for extra protein.
  • Serve with crusty bread for a complete meal.
