French Dip Sandwiches

Description

A delicious and hearty sandwich filled with tender beef and served with savory au jus for dipping.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef chuck roast
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • Provolone cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Season the beef chuck roast with salt and pepper.
  2. In a large pot, heat some oil and brown the roast on all sides.
  3. Add the sliced onion and minced garlic, cooking until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the beef broth, water, Worcestershire sauce, and thyme.
  5. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 3-4 hours until the beef is tender.
  6. Remove the beef, shred it, and return it to the pot to soak in the juices.
  7. Toast the hoagie rolls and fill them with the shredded beef.
  8. Top with provolone cheese if desired and serve with au jus for dipping.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the beef overnight.
  • Serve with a side of fries or a salad for a complete meal.
  • Leftover au jus can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
