French Bread Rolls

Description

Learn how to make soft and delicious French bread rolls at home with this easy recipe.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add olive oil and salt to the yeast mixture.
  3. Gradually add flour, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
  7. Shape each piece into a roll and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Cover the rolls and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  10. Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Let cool before serving.

Notes

  • For a softer crust, brush the rolls with melted butter after baking.
  • These rolls can be frozen after baking for up to 3 months.
