Description

Learn how to make delicious and crispy falafel from scratch with this easy recipe.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup dried chickpeas
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Soak the dried chickpeas in water overnight.
  2. Drain and rinse the chickpeas, then place them in a food processor.
  3. Add the onion, garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, and pepper to the food processor.
  4. Pulse until the mixture is coarse but well combined.
  5. Form the mixture into small balls or patties.
  6. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
  7. Fry the falafel balls until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes.
  8. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  9. Serve warm with tahini sauce or in pita bread.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, you can bake the falafel instead of frying.
  • Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying to ensure crispy falafel.
  • Leftover falafel can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
