Description

A comforting dish of slow-cooked beef served in hoagie rolls with savory au jus for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 to 2 pounds beef chuck roast
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Hoagie rolls or French bread
  • Sliced provolone or Swiss cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the beef chuck roast in the crockpot.
  2. Add sliced onion and minced garlic on top of the roast.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together beef broth, water, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Pour this mixture over the roast.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the beef is tender.
  5. Once cooked, shred the beef with two forks and return to the pot.
  6. Serve the shredded beef on hoagie rolls or French bread, topped with cheese if desired, and offer the au jus from the crockpot as a dip.

Notes

For added flavor, let the beef rest for a few minutes before shredding. Ideal for busy families or cozy gatherings.
