Description
A rich and creamy Italian dessert made with ladyfingers dipped in coffee and layered with mascarpone cheese.
Ingredients

- 6 egg yolks
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
- 8 oz mascarpone cheese
- 1 cup brewed coffee, cooled
- 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
- 24 ladyfingers
- Cocoa powder for dusting
- Dark chocolate shavings (optional)
Instructions
- Whisk together egg yolks and sugar in a medium saucepan until pale and thick.
- Add milk and cook over medium heat until thickened.
- Remove from heat and let cool.
- Beat the heavy cream in a large bowl until stiff peaks form.
- Fold in mascarpone cheese into the cooled egg mixture.
- Gently fold in whipped cream until combined.
- Combine coffee and coffee liqueur in a shallow dish.
- Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not mushy.
- Layer half of the soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a serving dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the top.
- Repeat with remaining ladyfingers and mascarpone.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 240 minutes or overnight.
- Dust with cocoa powder and add dark chocolate shavings if desired.
Notes
Best served chilled; may be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
