Description

Delightful homemade churros, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, dusted with cinnamon sugar and perfect for dipping in chocolate.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 quarts oil (canola or vegetable oil) for frying
  • 1/2 cup white sugar (or to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream


Instructions

  1. Combine water, 2 1/2 tablespoons sugar, salt, and 2 tablespoons vegetable oil in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Bring to a boil and remove from heat.
  3. Stir in flour until the mixture forms a ball.
  4. Heat oil for frying in a deep fryer or deep skillet to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Pipe strips of dough into hot oil using a pastry bag.
  6. Fry until golden; drain on paper towels.
  7. Combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon.
  8. Roll drained churros in cinnamon and sugar mixture.
  9. Melt chocolate chips in the microwave with a few teaspoons of heavy cream for churros con chocolate.
  10. Stir well until thin. Dip churros in the melted chocolate and enjoy!

Notes

Use fresh oil for the best crisp and control the temperature for perfectly fried churros.
