Description

Delightful bite-sized churro poppers that are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, rolled in cinnamon-sugar and perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240 ml) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (240 ml) water
  • 2 ½ tbsps (37.5 ml) sugar
  • 2 tbsps (30 ml) vegetable oil
  • ½ tsp (2.5 ml) salt
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup (120 ml) granulated sugar
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Blend granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a medium bowl or paper bag to create a coating.
  2. Warm oil in a deep fryer or skillet to 375°F (190°C).
  3. Merge water, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil in a saucepan; bring to a boil, then remove from heat.
  4. Fold flour rapidly into the hot liquid until a smooth dough forms.
  5. Shape the dough into compact spheres with a spoon or small ice cream scoop and lower into hot oil in small batches.
  6. Fry until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes per batch.
  7. Remove from oil and coat in cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  8. Serve warm as is or with chocolate or caramel dipping sauce.

Notes

For a diabetic-friendly version, consider using sugar substitutes like stevia, monk fruit, or allulose. Avoid honey or maple syrup as they affect blood sugar levels.
