Chicken Tikka Masala

Description

A delicious and aromatic dish made with marinated chicken cooked in a spiced tomato sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato puree
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix yogurt, lemon juice, garam masala, cumin, paprika, turmeric, and salt. Add chicken and marinate for at least 1 hour.
  2. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Add garlic and ginger, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the marinated chicken and cook until browned on all sides.
  5. Stir in tomato puree and simmer for 15 minutes.
  6. Pour in heavy cream and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with rice or naan.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add chili powder to the marinade.
  • Letting the chicken marinate overnight enhances the flavor.
  • Serve with basmati rice or naan for a complete meal.
