Ingredients
Scale
- 4 chicken thighs or breasts
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions
- Marinate the chicken in buttermilk for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Mix in a bowl the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, letting excess drip off, then dredge in the flour mixture.
- Fry the chicken pieces until golden brown and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes per side.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Assemble the burgers by placing the fried chicken on a bun and adding lettuce, tomato, and any other desired toppings. Serve hot.
Notes
For a gluten-free version, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend. Frying yields better crispiness than baking, although baking can be an option.
