Description

Crispy, golden-fried Blooming Onion Bites with bold seasoning and a creamy dipping sauce. Perfect for snacking or parties!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large sweet onions, cut into bite-sized petals
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk (or plant-based)
  • Oil for frying (or air fryer spray)

Instructions

  1. Cut onions into bite-sized pieces and soak in cold water for 10 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour with garlic powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and cayenne.
  3. In a second bowl, whisk eggs and milk.
  4. Drain and dry onions. Dip in egg wash, then dredge in flour mixture.
  5. For extra crunch, repeat the dip and dredge step.
  6. Fry in hot oil (350°F) for 2–3 minutes until golden, or air fry at 400°F for 8 minutes, flipping halfway.
  7. Drain on paper towels. Serve warm with dipping sauce.

Notes

For gluten-free: Use 1:1 gluten-free flour blend.

Try chipotle mayo or ranch for dipping.

Don’t overcrowd your fryer—work in batches for best crispiness.
